Havana, Cuba-. Today it makes difficult to me writing these lines, because I am going to recommend a book written by a good friend. Its title is: “The moviemaker that I carry inside, Thirty years of Cuban cinema”, owing to the pen of the also critic and presenter Frank Padrón Nodarse (Pinar del Río 1958).
With a preface of the respected intellectual Francisco López Sacha, the book leads us by published texts in “Cuban Cinema”, the most antique specialized magazine of the area along 3 decades.
Among other very interesting sections the book talk about the music composed by our José María Vitier for the Seventh Art made in Cuba, and that cinema which arrived to us from the Eastern Europe.
Frank Padrón is a well known figure since his television programs “De Nuestra América” and “Brasil”, besides of other successful publications like: “La profesión maldita”, “Co-cine” and “Más allá de la linterna” that have provided several knowledges and a nice time of reading to their eager consumers.
“The moviemaker that I carry inside, Thirty years of Cuban cinema” can be found in the bookstores of the cinemas that belong to the Project 23 of the ICAIC, right now in the Summer Cinema Festival, beyond the Art Market in La Rampa. This latest will take care of it distribution till September 3rd, the day in which it will close its doors.
If you love the cinema, don’t hesitate in acquiring it.
