We do have a great reserve of seeds and state-of-the-art nurseries. We have grated, for the very first time in our nation, the Robusta coffee in order to achieve better results.´ Linares added.

There are other productions that are achieved in the mountain range, for instance, almost the 100 per cent of the local settlements are able to supply themselves with fresh milk and even give an important contribution to the Escambray milk center while the diverse crops and vegetables are also harvested, thus the supply of cabbages and tomatoes is guaranteed given that rice and potatoes are not the only crops harvested in that region.

In addition, there are over thirty species of medicinal plants that exist in areas of the mountain that are planted for the local Public Health branch as well as fruit trees that are planted in the best farm of its type in the nation as it is backed by the Investigation Institute for having 157 botanical species out of the 174 ones that exist in the tropics.
