Ibero American Congress on Literacy Teaching Begins in Havana

Havana, Cuba.- The Ibero American Congress on Literacy Teaching and Basic Education for Youths and Adults begins in Havana on Monday with the participation of more than 1,000 delegates from 30 countries.
The event, which will run until next Thursday, takes place under the auspices of the Cuban Education Ministry, the Organization of Ibero American States for Education, Science and Culture (OEI), the Ibero American General Secretariat (SEGIB) and the Latin American and Caribbean Pedagogical Institute (IPLAC).
According to the Trabajadores weekly, the meeting will serve participants to exchange experiences, conceptual positions and scientific results about policies, programs, methods and strategies of literacy teaching.
The inaugural day of the event includes a special lecture by Cuban Education Minister Ena Elsa Velasquez Cobiella.
In parallel with the event, there will be a round table of ministers and representatives of OEI member countries and the Social Forum of Literacy Teaching and Basic Education for Youths and Adults will also take place.
Some 15 education ministers are expected for the Congress. (acn) |
