Cuba reports 60 deaths and 8,544 cases of Covid-19 during the last day of the epidemic

The national director of Epidemiology of the Cuban Ministry of Public Health, Dr. Francisco Durán, reported on Monday 60 deaths and 8,544 positive samples for Covid-19 during the last 24 hours, for an accumulated 809,911 diagnoses since the beginning of the disease in the nation.

During his usual press conference, Durán explained that the day before the country had analyzed 55,402 samples, for a total of 9,60,867 samples analyzed.

At the close of yesterday, September 19, 92 thousand 601 patients were admitted, 49 thousand 048 suspects, 3 thousand 234 under surveillance and 40 thousand 319 confirmed active.

For COVID-19, a total of 55,402 samples were made for surveillance during the day, resulting in 8,544 positive. The country accumulates 9 million 060 thousand 867 samples carried out and 809 thousand 911 positive.

Of the total cases (8,544): 8,509 were contacts of confirmed cases; 8 with a source of infection abroad; 27 without a specified source of infection. Of the 8,544 cases diagnosed, 4,525 were female and 4,019 male.

3.8% (325) of the 8 544 positive cases were asymptomatic, accumulating a total of 124 thousand 644 which represents 15.4% of those confirmed to date.

The 8 544 diagnosed cases belong to the age groups: under 20 years old (1,868), 20 to 39 years old (2,111), 40 to 59 years old (2,689), and over 60 (1,876) .
