Self-employed Flock Classrooms for Accounting Courses in Central Cuba

HAVANA, Cuba.- Self employed and cooperative members in central Villa Clara province flocked the classrooms to enroll in courses this month to learn basic techniques of Accounting and Finance.

Magda de la Paz, branch coordinator of postgraduate studies of the National Association of Economists and Accountants of Cuba (ANEC) in the province, told ACN that the program corresponds to the strategy of increasing the economic culture of the population.

ANEC has among its purposes to instruct those who work outside the state structures for them to achieve the best performance possible in their work, she said.

Raising the economic culture of the population and of those who work ascribed to production and service forms instituted in the country, is one of the purposes of this training system, designed in accordance with the provisions of the Ministry of Education, she said.

Nereida Morales González, head of the Department of Technical and Vocational Education in Villa Clara, said that these studies will run through April 2014, and will made up of 112 hours spread across 11 topics related to accounting.

Diana Jimenez, a self employed woman from Santa Clara city, told ACN that she enrolled to study these subjects and get to know the procedures needed for the financial management of her work.

Many self-employed people lack the basic skills to achieve greater efficiency, productivity, reduce costs, and other vital issues in their job, knowledge we can acquire with these courses of ANEC, she said.
