The Cuban woman has always been present on any important occasion of the Cuban Revolution. She has always been like the standard, shield, proud and value since the liberation-war period. This has given the sweetness of a smile to her in each work she has been essential.
One of those women is Celia Sánchez Manduley, who was the loyal companion of Fidel Castro. She was her right hand, as it was said by those who met her. She was not only the female guerrilla fighter of the Sierra Maestra Mountain range but also the soul of those in need. She had a great emotional strength, tenacity and patriotic and political sensibility.
Celia Sánchez Manduley, who represented the high value and tenderness of the Cuban woman, played a decisive role about the planning for the disembarking of the Granma yacht in the eastern Cuban region. She was the main promoter of the ´Mariana Grajales´ female squad and the first woman who was a soldier in the local then Rebel army.
Major General Deisa Esther Puebla is another of the many essential women in the Cuban history who was the first one in achieving the General military rank in the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces. She was granted that honor by the Commander in Chief, Fidel Castro, who is remembered as a natural, humble and fighting spirit leader who had always faith in the victory.
In the middle of the sorrow due to the death of the leader Fidel Castro, Tete Puebla states that he will remain alive and will multiply among the current young people who have the task about safeguarding the motherland´s present and future, taking into accounts his exemplary existence and devotion for the honorable cause of the Cuban people.
“Physically, he is no longer among us, but Fidel Castro will always be in our Cuban people, and we shall continue doing what he taught about our fight and defending our Revolution, above all.”
“I do think that our young people will continue his example due to Fidel Castro is the greatest person that has ever existed.” Major general, Teté Puebla stated.
Tete Puebla and Celia Sanchéz participated, along with Fidel Castro in the Victorious caravan on January 1959.
At present, Tete Puebla says her last farewell to the undefeated Commander Fidel Castro while she as the most autochthonous flower of the Cuban revolution, accompanies her comrade of many battles, however, as part of the caravan for the eternity.
