The Latin American Federation of Journalists (FELAP) condemned the intensified economic aggression and oil blockade imposed by the administration of US President Donald Trump against Cuba, expressing its solidarity and support for the Caribbean people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a statement signed by its president, Argentine journalist Juan Carlos Caama\u00f1o, and its secretary general, Puerto Rican Nelson Castillo, FELAP strongly condemns the tightened blockade against the Caribbean nation. It also condemns \u201cthe policy of threats and attempts at definitive strangulation with which the United States anticipates, gradually and steadily, ending the revolutionary resistance of a people defending their sovereignty and self-determination.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In its solidarity statement published on its website, the journalists\u2019 federation asserts that \u201cCuba is not alone in the face of a leading power in crimes against humanity.\u201d This stance reinforces the organization\u2019s Latin Americanist and anti-imperialist commitment to the actions of Washington.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Given this scenario, various Argentine organizations, such as the Argentine Movement of Solidarity with Cuba (MASCuba) and its main branch, the House of Friendship in Buenos Aires, launched a campaign to raise funds to acquire solar panels, medical supplies, medicines, and food to support the Cuban people, who are experiencing a shortage crisis due to Washington\u2019s intensified economic war, which threatens other states to prevent them from supplying Cuba with oil. This external pressure directly affects the daily lives of citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
More than fifty organizations and prominent figures in the country have joined this initiative, including the Nobel Peace Prize laureate Adolfo P\u00e9rez Esquivel, as well as trade unions, neighborhood groups, collectives of Cubans residing in Argentina and human rights organizations, showing a broad front of solidarity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
