The Cuban delegation to the Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) denounced the total blockade of fuel supplies to Cuba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The complaint was filed based on the executive order issued by the US government on January 29, which has adverse consequences not only for the island, \u201cbut also for airlines, passengers, third countries, and the overall stability of the global aviation system.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mercedes V\u00e1zquez Gonz\u00e1lez, who represents the island on this body, stated that this action by the Trump administration has resulted in a lack of Jet A-1 fuel at Cuba\u2019s international airports, leading to diversions, cancellations, and higher costs, while impacting thousands of travelers and the stability of the international aviation system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the Cuban representative, these measures violate both the principles of the Chicago Convention and ICAO resolutions regarding unilateral and extraterritorial actions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Furthermore, V\u00e1zquez Gonz\u00e1lez asked the Council to include in its Work Program the follow-up to this matter and an investigation into how these measures affect international air transport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
V\u00e1zquez Gonz\u00e1lez reaffirmed his nation\u2019s commitment to ICAO, as well as to strengthening civil aviation based on safety, efficiency, economic sustainability, and respect for international law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
