Leonardo C\u00e1rdenas\u2019s team couldn\u2019t get a hit against the two pitchers used by the South Americans, Matias Etchervers and Pablo Migliavaca, and Yesander Rodr\u00edguez only reached first base after being hit by a pitch. They also struck out 11 batters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nor could the Cuban starting pitcher, Alain Rom\u00e1n, withstand the strong opposing lineup. In four innings of work, he allowed six earned runs on eight hits and struck out only three batters. The pitcher from Ciego de \u00c1vila suffered his first loss of the tournament, having previously earned all three of his team\u2019s wins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the end of the game, which marked Argentina\u2019s sixth victory against Cuba without a single defeat in the last eight years, manager Alberto Gurrinieli praised the performance of the Cubans, who generally give the 2019 world champions a good run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
