{"id":10269,"date":"2026-03-03T22:05:04","date_gmt":"2026-03-04T02:05:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.radiorebelde.cu\/english\/?p=10269"},"modified":"2026-03-03T22:05:06","modified_gmt":"2026-03-04T02:05:06","slug":"tubal-paez-telling-the-truth-regardless-of-the-risks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.radiorebelde.cu\/english\/tubal-paez-telling-the-truth-regardless-of-the-risks-03032026\/","title":{"rendered":"Tubal P\u00e1ez: Telling the Truth, Regardless of the Risks"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>\u201cI have always been committed to saying what I feel, to telling the truth, regardless of the risks,\u201d said Tubal P\u00e1ez Hern\u00e1ndez, a renowned Cuban intellectual, who recently received the Jos\u00e9 Mart\u00ed National Journalism Prize for lifetime achievement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the headquarters of the Union of Journalists of Cuba (UPEC) in Havana\u2019s Vedado district, the jury, presided over by photojournalist Juvenal Bal\u00e1n Neyra, also a national award recipient in the sector, read the official statement recognizing the work of P\u00e1ez Hern\u00e1ndez, who led the organization for 20 years, held various management positions at Granma and Bohemia magazines, and reported on numerous occasions alongside Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe honor bestowed upon me today, which I deeply appreciate, is a way of thanking the profession and those who nominated me,\u201d expressed the visibly moved honoree, who recalled anecdotes from his fruitful life and affirmed that these are times to say yes and to give one\u2019s last breath.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The award ceremony will take place next Thursday, March 12, during the main event commemorating Cuban Press Day at the Jos\u00e9 Mart\u00ed Memorial.
