Ecuador Court Rules State Responsible in Killing of Four Minors<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\nThe judge determined that Gabriela Rivadeneira, who was elected RC president in January, does not have the legal standing required to act on behalf of the movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The judicial ruling invalidated the motion for annulment and revocation filed by Rivadeneira two days earlier. In practical terms, Viteri decided to treat the request as if it had not been filed, leaving in force the sanction suspending the RC for nine months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To justify his decision, Viteri considered a certification sent by the National Electoral Council (CNE), which states that the Citizen Revolution\u2019s legal representation remains in the hands of Luisa Gonzalez, the former presidential candidate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In that regard, Judge Viteri concluded that Rivadeneira does not appear in the permanent registry of political organizations as having authority to represent the movement and therefore lacks the legal capacity to file motions on its behalf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Through the social media platform X, Rivadeneira said that, following orders from right-wing President Daniel Noboa, the CNE has still not registered the Citizen Revolution\u2019s new leadership elected in January.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cEight weeks have passed since the election of the new leadership at the National Convention of Manabi,\u201d she recalled, describing the CNE\u2019s omission as an action that \u201ccompletely nullifies democracy, already wounded by its own members.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
