{"id":10464,"date":"2026-03-17T19:50:48","date_gmt":"2026-03-17T23:50:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.radiorebelde.cu\/english\/?p=10464"},"modified":"2026-03-17T19:50:52","modified_gmt":"2026-03-17T23:50:52","slug":"cuba-opens-to-investment-from-u-s-companies-and-cuban-nationals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.radiorebelde.cu\/english\/cuba-opens-to-investment-from-u-s-companies-and-cuban-nationals-17032026\/","title":{"rendered":"Cuba opens to investment from U.S. companies and Cuban nationals"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Cuba is open to establishing a fluid commercial relationship with U.S. companies, as well as with Cubans residing in the United States and their descendants, Deputy Prime Minister Oscar P\u00e9rez Oliva affirmed on Monday<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cuban citizens living abroad\u2014in places such as Miami\u2014will be able to invest in the private sector and own businesses in their country of origin, explained P\u00e9rez Oliva, who also serves as the Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment (MINCEX), in comments to NBC News, as reported on the Ministry\u2019s official Facebook page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This initiative extends beyond the commercial sphere, the Deputy Prime Minister added; it also applies to investments\u2014not only small-scale ones but also large-scale projects, particularly in infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>P\u00e9rez Oliva asserted that the blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba is the primary obstacle hindering these national efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Addressing this topic on Friday, March 13\u2014during a press appearance\u2014Cuban President Miguel D\u00edaz-Canel affirmed that the government is working to expand the participation of Cubans residing abroad in the country\u2019s economic and social development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the President, the number of Cubans residing abroad\u2014or those extending their stays within the country\u2014is on the rise; he characterized it as a governmental responsibility to welcome them, listen to them, attend to their needs, and provide them with a space for participation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Such participation, he continued, is envisioned based on the willingness and actual capabilities of these citizens to contribute to the nation\u2019s development.
