The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel D\u00edaz-Canel, on Wednesday rejected the unilateral decision by the Government of Costa Rica to downgrade the level of its relations with the largest island in the Antilles \u2014 limiting them solely to the consular sphere\u2014without offering any argument or justification whatsoever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On his account on the social media platform X, the Head of State noted that \u201cthis constitutes an unfriendly act, which responds to evident pressures from the U.S. Government as part of its renewed offensive to attempt to enlist other countries in its failed policy against Cuba.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBut they will crash against the strength of the historic and cherished relations between our two peoples,\u201d he asserted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
D\u00edaz-Canel appended to his message a Communiqu\u00e9 from the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in which it rejects the arbitrary decision made by the Costa Rican government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
