{"id":10532,"date":"2026-03-20T15:06:46","date_gmt":"2026-03-20T19:06:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.radiorebelde.cu\/english\/?p=10532"},"modified":"2026-03-20T15:06:47","modified_gmt":"2026-03-20T19:06:47","slug":"activists-from-the-nuestra-america-convoy-express-solidarity-with-cuba","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.radiorebelde.cu\/english\/activists-from-the-nuestra-america-convoy-express-solidarity-with-cuba-20032026\/","title":{"rendered":"Activists from the \u201cNuestra Am\u00e9rica\u201d \u200b\u200bConvoy express solidarity with Cuba"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Activists from the \u201cNuestra Am\u00e9rica\u201d \u200b\u200bConvoy expressed their desire for genuine dialogue between the United States and Cuba, during a visit in which they arrived on the island bearing humanitarian aid to help counter the economic blockade affecting the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe are insisting that the dialogue on the part of the United States be sincere, because we have observed with great concern how\u2014even while this dialogue is ostensibly maintained\u2014the U.S. has not truly altered its rhetoric against Cuba,\u201d stated Manolo de los Santos, Executive Director of The People\u2019s Forum, one of the participating movements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De los Santos noted that millions of people in the U.S. do not desire an armed conflict on the island, asserting that they would not want to wake up and \u201csee bombs falling on Havana.\u201d&nbsp; Furthermore, the General Coordinator of the Progressive International (PI), David Adler, affirmed that this convoy marks the first of several initiatives in support of the Cuban people following the U.S. oil blockade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Adler confirmed that this represents \u201cthe beginning of a major global mobilization in support of the Cuban people\u201d\u2014a convoy deemed necessary not only to \u201ccontinue providing and delivering humanitarian aid,\u201d but also to demonstrate recognition of \u201ca genuine risk of escalating hostility on the part of the U.S. against Cuba.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Adler and de los Santos, who arrived on the island alongside other European activists, held a press conference in which they discussed the key ideas behind this initiative\u2014an effort expected to bring further shipments of humanitarian aid in the coming days. During the meeting, they announced that March 21st would be declared the \u201cInternational Day of Solidarity with Cuba.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On March 19th, a new group of activists hailing from countries such as Colombia, Brazil, and Uruguay arrived with humanitarian aid for the island, joining the delegations that have been arriving in Cuba since Tuesday.&nbsp; Among this group is Colombian Senator Clara L\u00f3pez\u2014a member of the Democratic Hope party and a candidate in the 2026 presidential elections\u2014who confirmed that the delegation serves as a gesture of solidarity with Cuba and is carrying one ton of food, medicine, and supplies \u201cas a symbolic gesture.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe know that this is entirely insufficient, but we also come bearing proposals, because this blockade must be broken.
