Through his social media channels, the diplomat argued that maintaining these restrictions ignores the sentiments of the majority of the American population, which favors a change in foreign policy toward the Caribbean nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rodr\u00edguez substantiated his stance by emphasizing that \u201c40 percent of Americans disapprove of the prolonged trade blockade against Cuba\u2014compared to 32 percent who approve\u2014according to a poll conducted by a renowned media outlet in the northern nation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the Foreign Minister, these results demonstrate that current policy serves the interests of a minority rather than the general will\u2014a will which, if heeded, would put an end to a strategy that inflicts significant humanitarian harm upon the Cuban people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIf the United States government truly heeded the will of the majority of its population\u2014rather than that of a minority filled with hatred and warmongering ambitions\u2014it would put an end to its criminal policy against the Cuban people, which causes mounting humanitarian harm,\u201d reads the post by the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Caribbean nation. A recent YouGov poll revealed that 46 percent of U.S. citizens oppose their government preventing third countries from shipping oil to Cuba, while only 28 percent support this measure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Regarding the use of force, 61 percent reject an armed attack, and 57 percent oppose military intervention to overthrow the Cuban government, based on the premise that the island poses no threat to U.S. national security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This public sentiment aligns with the opposition expressed by various U.S. social and religious organizations regarding the executive order signed by President Donald Trump, which authorizes Washington to impose tariffs on goods from countries that supply oil to Cuba. Groups such as the National Council of the Churches of Christ have characterized these restrictions as \u201cunnecessary and immoral.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
