{"id":10718,"date":"2026-04-08T19:20:27","date_gmt":"2026-04-08T23:20:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.radiorebelde.cu\/english\/?p=10718"},"modified":"2026-04-08T19:23:43","modified_gmt":"2026-04-08T23:23:43","slug":"israeli-attacks-undermine-peace-efforts-president-aoun","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.radiorebelde.cu\/english\/israeli-attacks-undermine-peace-efforts-president-aoun-08042026\/","title":{"rendered":"Israeli Attacks Undermine Peace Efforts: President Aoun"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">So far, Israeli occupation forces have killed over 1,500 people in Lebanese territory.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>On Wednesday, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun warned that Israel is undermining efforts to achieve peace in the Middle East through attacks that have left dozens dead and hundreds injured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cToday, Israel is once again intensifying its aggression, perpetrating another massacre that adds to its dark record, flagrantly defying all human values, and ignoring all efforts aimed at de-escalation and stability,\u201d the Lebanese leader stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aoun denounced these barbaric attacks as a blatant disregard for all agreements reached between Israel and the Lebanese Shiite group Hezbollah, which came into effect in November 2014, but which Zionist forces have violated almost daily since then.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In light of this latest escalation, the Lebanese president held Israel \u201cfully responsible for the consequences\u201d and asserted that these actions \u201cwill only lead to greater tension and instability at a time when we all need de-escalation and respect for commitments more than ever.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe emphasize the need for the international community to assume its responsibility to halt these repeated attacks and put an end to this aggressive approach that threatens security and stability in the region,\u201d Aoun concluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz threatened to kill Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem and boasted of the dead and injured resulting from Israel\u2019s largest attack on Lebanese territory since \u201cOperation Biper,\u201d which took place in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Zionist minister congratulated Israeli occupation forces and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu \u201cfor leading the decision and insisting on the separation of the arenas of action between Iran and Lebanon.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Wednesday, on the first day of the U.S.-Iran ceasefire, the Israeli occupation army said it had achieved \u201cmajor accomplishments\u201d over the past 40 days and vowed to continue bombing Lebanon, where \u201cthe threat persists.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Katz also mentioned that his forces had struck more than 100 targets in just 10 minutes across Lebanon, the largest wave of attacks since March 2, causing panic among the civilian population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So far, Israeli attacks have killed more than 1,500 people in Lebanese territory. Zionist forces have also injured 4,800 citizens, according to Lebanese authorities.
