The Italian solidarity association La Villetta per Cuba has prepared a container with medicines and essential supplies, which will soon depart for the island, intended to alleviate the consequences of the United States blockade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This Monday morning, members of the Cuban diplomatic mission in Italy, led by Ambassador Jorge Luis Cepero, supported this noble initiative to help their country, a new shipment that joins those regularly sent for the past three decades by this organization, headed by Luciano Iacovino.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Iacovino thanked the various entities and the Italian people in general for their support of his group in developing this solidarity project, and in particular acknowledged the assistance provided by L\u00e1zaro Mart\u00edn D\u00edaz, coordinator of the associations of Cubans residing in central and southern Italy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
La Villetta per Cuba also recently collaborated with the European Solidarity Convoy, which traveled to the island from Rome and Milan in mid-March as part of the \u201cLet Cuba Breathe\u201d initiative, delivering several tons of supplies to the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Members of this association marched through the streets of Rome last Saturday, joining a demonstration in support of Cuba. More than ten thousand people, convened by various organizations, participated, marching from the Colosseum to Porta San Paolo along several of the Italian capital\u2019s main avenues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Iacovino emphasized the need to strengthen the fight against the criminal U.S. economic, commercial, and financial blockade, which violates the human rights of the Cuban people and has intensified since President Donald Trump signed an executive order on January 29th attempting to block fuel shipments to the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The solidarity leader recently stated that \u201cto stop that fascist murderer, that damned President Trump, the unity of all political and social forces is necessary,\u201d which is evident in these initiatives, and asked that \u201cplease, let\u2019s maintain that unity.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
