The Cuban Workers\u2019 Federation (CTC) has presented the details of its program of activities for International Workers\u2019 Day, which Cuba will celebrate amid the imperialist policies that seek to suffocate the Cuban people in order to destroy the Revolution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The announcement of the activities was made by Osnay Miguel Colina Rodr\u00edguez, president of the organizing committee of the XXII Congress of the Cuban Workers\u2019 Federation (CTC), who was accompanied by the other members of the committee and the secretaries of the National Unions that make up the organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Under the central slogan \u201cThe Homeland Defends Itself,\u201d and the secondary slogans \u201cTogether We Create for Cuba,\u201d \u201cWe Will Win for Cuba,\u201d \u201cFor Cuba and for Fidel,\u201d \u201cUnited and Steadfast for Cuba,\u201d and \u201cWork, Grow, and Win for Cuba,\u201d the event will pay tribute to Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz in the year of his centennial and denounce the intensification of the United States blockade against the island.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Colina Rodr\u00edguez explained that, in the preceding weeks, processes will continue to be developed in workplaces so that employees can discuss how the blockade affects them, as well as debates on job relocation through the formation of brigades to address societal problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The CTC leader also highlighted the presentation of awards to National Vanguard collectives, the prizes awarded by the National Association of Innovators and Rationalizers (ANIR), and the promotion of food production in gardens, plots, and urban farms with the participation of volunteers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The trade union leader acknowledged the progress in installing solar panels to accelerate the shift in the energy matrix.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe are seeking to ensure that local councils, municipalities, businesses, and institutions can showcase the solutions they have found to their own problems and share them with their counterparts in other territories,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also affirmed that volunteer work will continue every Saturday and Sunday throughout the country, and that defense preparation activities will be maintained to fulfill the priorities of the 11th Plenum of the Communist Party of Cuba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For May 1st, four march fronts are planned in Havana, converging on a final rally at the Anti-Imperialist Tribune starting at 8:00 a.m. The mobilization will begin at 4:00 a.m., although Colina Rodr\u00edguez asserted that \u201cthere are work collectives that begin activities the night before May 1st.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the nation\u2019s capital, the celebration program is designed to facilitate the mobilization of participants, while in the rest of the country, the celebrations will take place as they have historically, with multiple parades and commemorative events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The routes in Havana will be as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 Parade Route 1: Paseo Street to the Malec\u00f3n, in two groups: one from 23rd Street and Paseo, and the other from G Street and the Malec\u00f3n, for the municipalities of Plaza, Playa, and La Lisa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 Parade Route 2: Infanta Street to the Malec\u00f3n (from Carlos III Street, Ayestar\u00e1n and Infanta Streets), for the municipalities of Cerro, Diez de Octubre, Arroyo Naranjo, and Boyeros.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 Parade Route 3: From Maceo Park to the Grandstand for the municipality of Centro Habana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 Parade Route 4: Prado and the Malec\u00f3n, for the municipalities of Old Havana, East Havana, Regla, Guanabacoa, San Miguel del Padr\u00f3n, and Cotorro. The president of the organizing committee specified that international participants will gather at the intersection of L and K streets in Vedado, and further clarified that all participants will be responsible for their own transportation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In that regard, he confirmed that \u201cwe are working with traffic officials to create the conditions for those who wish to arrive by their own means of transport,\u201d especially electric motorcycles and bicycles, so that they can position themselves at the rear of the gathering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis is the celebration of the world proletariat; this is the space for Cuban workers to join in. To declare that the Cuban people are here and that we have not renounced any of our dreams,\u201d he emphasized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Colina Rodr\u00edguez also highlighted that the celebration will become an opportunity to \u201chonor Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz in the year of his centennial and denounce the imperialist policy that reinforces the U.S. blockade against Cuba.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The CTC (Central Organization of Cuban Workers) plans to hold an international solidarity event with Cuba on May 2nd, and on that same day, the International Symposium on Trade Union Work will begin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Colina Rodr\u00edguez highlighted the continued international demonstrations by solidarity organizations to condemn Washington\u2019s policies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe want to celebrate Labor Day as a show of unity, patriotism, and commitment,\u201d concluded the leader, who recalled that Fidel Castro Ruz visited the CTC headquarters more than 60 times. \u201cWe can always move forward, we can always overcome difficulties.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
