Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has warned the United States against attempting a military adventure in Cuba, arguing that \u201cit will cost them dearly.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIf they then get involved in Cuba and go to war with the Cubans, it will cost them dearly. History proves it,\u201d Lukashenko warned in an interview with Rick Sanchez, the Cuban-American journalist who works for the Russian television channel RT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Belarusian president stated that \u201cthere will be nations that discreetly support Cuba, and it\u2019s difficult to say how that might end.\u201d Unlike Iran, Lukashenko noted, Cuba is located \u201cnear President Donald Trump\u2019s mansion\u201d in Florida.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDo you need that? No. Well, you have to think about it. Is it possible? Very problematic,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since the beginning of this year, tensions between Washington and Havana have escalated following the U.S. military action in Venezuela to kidnap President Nicolas Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On January 29th, Trump signed an executive order authorizing the United States to impose tariffs on imports from countries that supply oil to Cuba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Washington\u2019s actions have caused a severe fuel shortage in Cuba, affecting electricity generation and vital sectors of the economy, including transportation, food production, healthcare, and education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Cuban President Miguel D\u00edaz-Canel denounced Washington\u2019s \u201cenergy blockade\u201d and deemed it \u201ccondemnable\u201d that a power like the United States would \u201cadopt such an aggressive and criminal policy toward a small nation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, in repeated statements to the press, Trump has not ruled out the possibility of US military action against the island.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
