The staff of the Cuban Embassy in the United States has joined the \u201cMy Signature for the Homeland\u201d \/ \u201cMi firma por la Patria\u201d movement, which demonstrates the Cuban people\u2019s commitment to peace and their right to defend themselves against any attempt at aggression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWith our signatures, we will reaffirm our unwavering commitment to peace, which is the essence of the Cuban nation,\u201d said the Deputy Chief of Mission of Cuba, Ambassador Tanieris Di\u00e9guez, after everyone sang the National Anthem and began signing the document at the embassy in Washington.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe are men and women who love peace, defenders of solidarity and humanism,\u201d Di\u00e9guez emphasized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On April 16, during the celebration of the 65th anniversary of the proclamation of the Socialist character of the Cuban Revolution, President Miguel D\u00edaz-Canel convened this national and international initiative of denunciation and solidarity from Havana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Defending ourselves \u2014 the document emphasized \u2014 is not only a right, but, as enshrined in our Constitution, the greatest honor and supreme duty of every Cuban.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The text also called for condemning the United States\u2019 blockade and economic war against Cuba, which it described as an act of genocide; and for repudiating the policies of hatred and the continuous threats of military aggression against the island nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ambassador Lianys Torres, head of the Cuban Mission, was the first, along with the rest of the embassy leadership, to sign the declaration in support of the homeland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
