He then accused the Pope of acting like a political leader rather than a religious one.

During the opening of peace talks between Washington and Tehran in Islamabad, the Pope delivered a scathing critique of those who promote war and described the aggressions in the Middle East as “a delusion of omnipotence.”

He condemned the pretensions of all those who “demand that the whole world kneel before their demands” and called for “a kingdom where there is no sword, no drones, no vengeance, no trivialization of evil, no unjust profit, but only dignity, understanding, and forgiveness.”

Apparently, all those words in favor of a world of peace and understanding among human beings landed squarely in the ears of the American magnate, who, in another of his outbursts, suggested that the Pope’s election was linked to his own presidency, otherwise he wouldn’t have been elected.

The Pope described the aggressions in the Middle East as a “delusion of omnipotence” and urged the nations in conflict not to turn their interests “into a mute, blind, and deaf idol to which they sacrifice all value.”

Very wisely, Leo XIV avoided escalating the conflict, although he reaffirmed his stance in favor of peace. “I will continue to speak out forcefully against war,” he declared, insisting on the need to promote dialogue and multilateral solutions.

Numerous people across the political and religious spectrum have described Trump’s statements as “unhinged,” “abominable,” and a dangerous display of a “Messiah complex.”

Criticism of the convicted president intensified after Trump posted an image (created with artificial intelligence) on his social media account, TruthSocial, depicting himself as a Jesus Christ-like figure seemingly healing a man who bears a striking resemblance to the convicted sex offender Jerry Epstein.

It seems that for the delusional individual running the White House, there are no limits to controlling his hallucinations.

(*) Hedelberto López Blanch is a renowned Cuban journalist.
