U.S.-Israeli War on Iran Has Negative Repercussions in the Caspian Region<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\nPezeshkian made the remarks in a phone call with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, while stressing that the U.S. \u201cmaritime piracy\u201d against Iranian ships must be \u201cexplicitly\u201d condemned and brought to an end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He listed some war crimes committed by the United States and Israel during their 40-day war against Iran, including assassinations of the Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, high-ranking military commanders and political officials and civilians, as well as targeting of vital infrastructure and nuclear facilities under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pezeshkian described the U.S. officials\u2019 \u201cprovocative\u201d remarks concurrent with the blockade of Iranian ports as \u201cunacceptable and contrary to international laws and regulations,\u201d emphasizing that such actions would further complicate the situation in the region of West Asia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He affirmed Iran\u2019s determination to defend its legitimate rights, expressing readiness to continue pursuing diplomacy for a \u201cfair\u201d solution that guarantees the country\u2019s rights and ensures peace and calm in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pezeshkian underlined that achieving the objective hinges on stopping the U.S. \u201cmaximalist approach and provocative actions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He attributed the insecurity in the Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz to the U.S. and Israeli \u201caggressive actions\u201d against Iran, and the continuation of the U.S. \u201cprovocative and illegal\u201d actions in blockading Iranian ports and attacking the country\u2019s commercial ships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pezeshkian called on all countries to adopt a \u201cclear and firm\u201d position in condemning the U.S. \u201cmaritime piracy\u201d and threats against international shipping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For her part, Takaichi stressed that Japan attaches special importance to the continuation of its \u201cfriendly and stable\u201d relations with Iran, praising Iran for having allowed a Japanese ship to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She requested safe passage for other Japanese vessels and stressed diplomacy as the main path to managing disputes. Takaichi expressed hope that peace negotiations between Iran and the United States would resume soon and eventually lead to a final agreement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The United States imposed its anti-Iran blockade on the Strait of Hormuz after post-ceasefire negotiations with Tehran in Pakistan\u2019s capital Islamabad on April 11 and 12 failed to lead to an agreement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ceasefire between Iran, the United States, and Israel took effect on April 8 following 40 days of fighting, which started on Feb. 28 when the United States and Israel launched joint attacks on Tehran and other Iranian cities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Iran responded with waves of missile and drone strikes targeting Israel and U.S. bases and assets in the Middle East, and tightened its grip on the Strait of Hormuz, barring passage to vessels belonging to or affiliated with Israel and the United States. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
