The International Relations Commission of the National Assembly of People\u2019s Power of Cuba (Parliament) has rejected the new Executive Order issued by US President Donald Trump, considering that it intensifies the economic war, with the purpose of further exacerbating the illegal and immoral collective punishment of the Cuban people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement published on the National Assembly\u2019s official website, the Commission denounced that this measure once again violates sovereignty and self-determination by extending pressure and threats of secondary sanctions to third-party states and entities that maintain commercial or financial ties with Cuba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It also questioned recent statements by the US president that accentuate the belligerent escalation by threatening military aggression against Cuba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Cuban people will defend the political system enshrined in the Constitution, the Commission emphasized, recalling that more than six million citizens recently ratified their support for independence and the Revolution through the \u201cSign for the Homeland\u201d initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The statement by the National Assembly of People\u2019s Power also reaffirmed in the text Cuba\u2019s historic commitment to peace and the principles of the Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The parliamentary body highlighted the massive popular participation in the celebrations for International Workers\u2019 Day, as an expression of unity in the face of external threats, and called on parliaments and parliamentarians worldwide to raise their voices to halt the growing economic, energy, and military hostility of the U.S. government against Cuba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It recalled that the recent International Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba, held in Havana, reaffirmed the nation\u2019s right to live in peace and to develop, and called for increased solidarity in the centennial year of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
