In addition to the lack of funding, the parade faces attacks from the right wing evangelical churches, which are pushing a bill in the S\u00e3o Paulo City Council to ban LGBTQ+ events in public spaces and the attendance of minors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Trans councilwoman Amanda Paschoal warned that the ban would be a \u201cself-inflicted wound\u201d for the city, since the event will inject some US$92 million into the local economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Paschoal denounced the bill as part of an electoral strategy based on \u201cmoral panic,\u201d which reflects the growth of anti-LGBT and anti-trans agendas in Brazil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
