{"id":11466,"date":"2026-06-09T13:47:02","date_gmt":"2026-06-09T17:47:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.radiorebelde.cu\/english\/?p=11466"},"modified":"2026-06-09T13:47:03","modified_gmt":"2026-06-09T17:47:03","slug":"cuba-denounces-u-s-doctrine-of-peace-through-strength-before-the-united-nations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.radiorebelde.cu\/english\/cuba-denounces-u-s-doctrine-of-peace-through-strength-before-the-united-nations-09062026\/","title":{"rendered":"Cuba denounces U.S. doctrine of peace through strength before the United Nations"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the IV Meeting of the Group of Friends in Defense of the Charter of the United Nations held in Zimbabwe, Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Elio Rodr\u00edguez denounced the application of the doctrine of \u201cpeace through strength\u201d promoted by the United States government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The diplomat described this stance as a direct violation of the principles of international law and multilateralism, warning of Washington\u2019s systematic disregard for the value of the United Nations in a complex scenario for its members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking in the general debate of the 4th Meeting of National Coordinators of the Group of Friends in Defense of the UN Charter, the Cuban official rejected the application of Trump\u2019s \u201cpeace through strength\u201d doctrine, which violates the principles enshrined in the Charter and International Law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In his remarks, Rodr\u00edguez asserted that the current blockade of fuel supplies to the island constitutes an act of war in peacetime, the effects of which are comparable to those of a naval blockade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He pointed out that these actions seek to subject the Cuban population to extreme conditions that jeopardize their physical integrity and their very existence, raising to critical levels the extraterritorial nature of a collective punishment applied for more than six decades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The deputy minister also rejected the imposition of secondary sanctions that seek to force third-party states to participate in measures against Cuba under threats and intimidation. Likewise, the official described the recent accusation against the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Army General Ra\u00fal Castro Ruz, as arbitrary, fraudulent, and illegitimate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">International solidarity is urgently needed in the face of the tightening of the blockade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Finally, the island\u2019s representative alerted the international community and member states to the danger of military aggression and the consequences of a potential humanitarian catastrophe resulting from the intensification of the blockade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Group of Friends in Defense of the Charter, comprised of 21 nations and founded to promote strict adherence to UN principles, concluded its forum by reaffirming the value of cooperation and solidarity in the face of these types of coercive policies, which have been consistently rejected by the Cuban government and people, as well as by various citizens, organizations, and leaders around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">IMAGE CREDIT: Rodr\u00edguez asserted that the current blockade of fuel supplies to the island constitutes an act of war in peacetime.
