{"id":11819,"date":"2026-06-23T16:13:10","date_gmt":"2026-06-23T20:13:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.radiorebelde.cu\/english\/?p=11819"},"modified":"2026-06-23T16:13:12","modified_gmt":"2026-06-23T20:13:12","slug":"cuba-installs-more-than-300-photovoltaic-systems-with-support-from-canadas-former-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.radiorebelde.cu\/english\/cuba-installs-more-than-300-photovoltaic-systems-with-support-from-canadas-former-project-23062026\/","title":{"rendered":"Cuba installs more than 300 photovoltaic systems with support from Canada\u2019s Former Project"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Former Project, a partnership between Cuba and Canada focused on developing renewable energy and promoting women\u2019s participation, installed 344 photovoltaic systems in 10 municipalities in Holgu\u00edn province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tania Hidalgo G\u00f3mez, head of the Photovoltaic Group at the Renewable Energy Business Unit (UEB), reported that of the 502 systems planned for the region, 244 one-kilowatt systems and 100 two-kilowatt systems have already been implemented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hidalgo G\u00f3mez explained that the areas where the systems were installed, which previously only had four hours of electricity per day using generators, now have a stable 24-hour power supply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The initiative, whose implementation phase will conclude next July, prioritizes social development and community infrastructure through the installation of 30 solar water heaters in health and social care institutions in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Octavio de la Concepci\u00f3n y de la Pedraja Pediatric Hospital, as well as various daycare centers, polyclinics, maternity homes, and senior citizen centers, are among the facilities benefiting from these clean technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The program also includes a water pumping system at the hospital in the municipality of Moa, a solar park for a laundry facility, and the construction of a scientific demonstration park at the University of Moa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the educational sector, three fully equipped classrooms specializing in renewable energy, complete with measuring instruments, practical tools, climate control, and furniture, were inaugurated at polytechnic institutes and at the university\u2019s Moa campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The technical training, provided by Canadian experts in wind, solar, hydroelectric, and thermal technologies, led to the graduation of teachers who will be responsible for replicating their knowledge of the systems\u2019 use and maintenance within their communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With a gender focus, the Former Project directly assists women in vulnerable communities who manage farms and businesses, aiming to foster their economic independence and leadership in the local socio-energy transition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">[ SOURCE: www.cubainformacion.tv \/ PRENSA LATINA ]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Former Project, a partnership between Cuba and Canada focused on developing renewable energy and promoting women&rsquo;s participation, installed 344 photovoltaic systems in 10 municipalities in Holgu&iacute;n province.
