Cuba will once again raise its voice to the world this July 7 before the United Nations General Assembly (UN) on the topic of \u201cThe Need to End the Economic, Commercial, and Financial Blockade Imposed by the United States Against Cuba.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a recent press conference, Cuba\u2019s Foreign Minister Bruno Rodr\u00edguez Parrilla explained that this forum is being held at the island\u2019s request due to the need to convene the multilateral body to address the current state of the blockade imposed by the U.S. government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bruno Rodr\u00edguez defended the urgency of the meeting given Washington\u2019s ongoing and serious breaches of international law, regional peace, stability, and security, which are being undermined by the intensification of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade. He asserted that this blockade constitutes an act of genocide, systematic punishment, and a flagrant violation of the human rights of the archipelago\u2019s inhabitants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Cuban foreign minister reaffirmed that the Caribbean nation poses no threat to U.S. national security, as has been claimed to justify hostile actions, while the blockade itself represents a criminal and illegitimate impediment to the existence and well-being of the Cuban people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The head of Cuban diplomacy expressed his certainty that the vast majority of the international community supports and will continue to support Cuba in the face of the multidimensional aggression and crimes against humanity being committed, with their growing and incalculable humanitarian damage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In response, the top Cuban diplomat denounced the White House\u2019s maneuvers to impose its policy of encirclement, in a coercive and threatening manner, on the governments and foreign ministries of third-party states, as well as the unprecedented pressure deployed to prevent the session scheduled for July 7.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bruno Rodr\u00edguez emphasized that the pressure, blackmail and threats used by the Permanent Mission of the United States in New York, including legal actions, to intimidate United Nations Member States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
