Lin Jian, spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, refuted recent US accusations of alleged intelligence cooperation with Cuba, as outlined in a recent State Department report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a press conference, the Chinese spokesperson also reaffirmed his country\u2019s support for Cuba in defending its sovereignty, Prensa Latina reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lin Jian called the claims in the document, titled \u201cCuba: The Capital of 21st Century Communism,\u201d unfounded. The report alleges that China uses Cuba\u2019s geographic location to gather intelligence against the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The diplomat affirmed that relations between Beijing and Havana are \u201copen and transparent\u201d and do not tolerate \u201cslander or defamation campaigns.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also urged the United States to stop \u201cthrowing mud at others and acting like someone who accuses others of what they themselves do.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Miguel D\u00edaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, asserted this Monday that the report constitutes a pretext to justify aggression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Cuban leader also recalled the long history of attacks, sabotage and crimes committed by Washington against the Cuban people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to an analysis by the Cubadebate Media Observatory, the text attempts to portray Cuba as the origin of a network that would explain part of the political conflict within the United States, from Black Power and Black self-defense to pro-Palestinian activism and protests against deportations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
