{"id":12438,"date":"2026-08-12T23:15:25","date_gmt":"2026-08-13T03:15:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.radiorebelde.cu\/english\/?p=12438"},"modified":"2026-08-12T23:15:26","modified_gmt":"2026-08-13T03:15:26","slug":"first-international-colloquium-dedicated-to-fidel-castro-opens-in-cuba","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.radiorebelde.cu\/english\/first-international-colloquium-dedicated-to-fidel-castro-opens-in-cuba-12082026\/","title":{"rendered":"First International Colloquium dedicated to Fidel Castro opens in Cuba"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cuban President Miguel D\u00edaz-Canel took part on Monday in the opening of the First International Colloquium \u201cFidel: Legacy and Future,\u201d dedicated to the historical leader of the Revolution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The director of the Fidel Castro Studies Center, Ren\u00e9 Barrios, stated that this meeting is taking place in a particularly complex international context, where it is increasingly necessary to return to the thinking of the Commander-in-Chief.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Also participating in the opening were the President of the National Assembly of People\u2019s Power, Esteban Lazo; the Prime Minister of the Republic, Manuel Marrero; the Secretary of Organization of the Communist Party of Cuba, Roberto Morales; as well as other leaders representing social and mass organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.radiohc.cu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/coloquio-2-300x188.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-65553\" style=\"width:632px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event, which will run until Thursday, August 13th \u2014 the centennial of the revolutionary leader\u2019s birth \u2014 is conceived as a grand, pluralistic and diverse popular celebration with an inclusive and emancipatory purpose. At the same time, it constitutes an academic, political and scientific space for reflection and action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The gathering, which brings together more than 1,500 delegates, including over one thousand from around 60 countries, will address Fidel Castro\u2019s role as a revolutionary, statesman, and military strategist, his political and social ideology, Marxist practice and the construction of socialism in Cuba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Likewise, his impact on foreign policy, the struggle for peace and anti-imperialism, as well as his humanist and internationalist legacy in education, science, culture, health, and sports will be analyzed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The First International Colloquium \u201cFidel: Legacy and Future\u201d will also highlight his cultural impact on the arts and popular memory, the relevance of his thinking to the challenges of the 21st century, and unity as a strategy for regional integration and cooperation, with an emphasis on social justice, sovereignty, and self-determination of peoples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">IMAGE CREDIT: Photos: Endrys Correa Vaillant (FotosPL)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">[ SOURCE: PRENSA LATINA ]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cuban President Miguel D&iacute;az-Canel took part on Monday in the opening of the First International Colloquium &ldquo;Fidel: Legacy and Future,&rdquo; dedicated to the historical leader of the Revolution.
