Carlos Fern\u00e1ndez de Coss\u00edo, Cuba\u2019s Deputy Foreign Minister, refuted via his social media accounts the false statements and attacks made by the US Secretary of State and officials of his administration against the figure of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The diplomat stated on Facebook that history will remember the Cuban leader for his contribution to peace and international solidarity, in contrast to those who attempt to discredit his legacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cContrary to Marco Rubio and his government, history will remember Fidel Castro for his immense contribution as the extraordinary leader of a patriotic, rebellious, and supportive people,\u201d he wrote on his profile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Fern\u00e1ndez de Coss\u00edo emphasized that Fidel Castro had a positive influence on the lives of millions of people from disadvantaged sectors of the Third World\u2026 \u201ccontributing to peace, not provoking war; helping to combat apartheid, not trying to perpetuate it; firmly denouncing crimes against the Palestinian people, not being complicit in them,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The deputy foreign minister recalled that Fidel also opposed racism, discrimination, and exploitation, and\u2026 \u201craising the sentiments of sovereignty, independence, unity, and integration in Latin America and the Caribbean, not attempting to subject the peoples of the region to humiliation, tutelage, and corruption,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In his message, he also highlighted that Fidel dreamed of\u2026 \u201cthe possibility of a better world and fought to achieve it, instead of declaring the illegitimate superiority of the U.S. over the rest of the world and trying to impose it,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Today, in another recent post on social media, the deputy minister stated: \u201cLacking any justification for maintaining its ruthless aggression against Cuba, the U.S. government continues to officially lie to its own people. The outgoing White House spokesperson speaks of \u2018drug cartels on alert\u2019 that she and her government know do not exist.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
