The United States government has turned lies into a primary weapon of aggression to reinforce its attack against Cuba. This was denounced by Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Carlos Fern\u00e1ndez de Coss\u00edo through his Facebook account, where he debunked three fundamental fallacies used by the U.S. administration to justify its economic blockade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The first of these fallacies, according to the Cuban diplomat, was the declaration of Cuba, on January 29, 2026, as an unusual and extraordinary threat to U.S. national security. A ridiculous assertion, he noted, that \u201callows the president to apply secondary sanctions against third countries as a way to force them to join the economic blockade against Cuba.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Based on this false premise, he added, actions have been orchestrated that \u201cdeprive Cuba of fuel supplies and seek to provoke a humanitarian crisis.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Secondly, he called the designation of Cuba as a state sponsor of terrorism a fallacy. \u201cThat designation unleashes a series of aggressive and coercive actions that also violate international law,\u201d he emphasized, noting that not even the U.S. Congress itself has been able to present evidence to support such an accusation. The measure, imposed and withdrawn repeatedly by different administrations, is considered by the international community to be an act of unilateral coercion that contravenes the principles of the UN Charter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Finally, Fern\u00e1ndez de Coss\u00edo refuted the basis of the Helms-Burton Act, which falsely accuses the Cuban government of having illegally confiscated property belonging to Americans. \u201cCuba did legitimately nationalize, through expropriation, assets and properties belonging to U.S. owners in strict accordance with national law and in full compliance with international law.\u201d The planned compensation mechanism could not be implemented because the U.S. government rejected it while \u201ccommitting the crime of organizing a mercenary military invasion and attempting to assassinate the leader of the Revolution.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The deputy foreign minister concluded that \u201cthe immense power of the U.S. to use and abuse lies and disseminate them until they become acceptable has become an effective weapon of aggression and imposition of its unilateral and hegemonic will at the expense of the peace and rights of other nations.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
