Roger Waters, co-founder of Pink Floyd, strongly criticized the United States\u2019 policy toward Cuba during an interview on the program \u201cLive on the Fly\u201d on WBAI\u2013Pacifica Radio, in New York, in which Ernesto Sober\u00f3n, head of the Cuban Mission to the UN, also participated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Waters directly called for an end to the blockade and restrictions against the island: \u201cStop the blockade. Stop all of that. Why? It\u2019s none of your business. Stay out of the affairs of other peoples.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The British musician stated that he felt a deep admiration for the Cuban people\u2019s resilience in the face of decades of US pressure: \u201cThey have fought against everything that successive US administrations have thrown at them\u2026 I admire them immensely. Give them their freedom.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Waters also pointed the finger at Washington: \u201cThe people I really need to talk to are the US administration\u2026 to tell them: stop this madness.\u201d He also warned about the consequences of US intervention in Cuba, Venezuela, and other countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At another point, he directly challenged US citizens who support these policies: \u201cDo you really believe in freedom? Then believe in the freedom of the Cuban people.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Waters also highlighted the international work of Cuban doctors: he noted that, in the face of crises in Africa, Europe, South America, and other regions, \u201cthose who appear in large numbers are Cuban doctors,\u201d something he attributed to the education and solidarity developed in Cuba since 1959.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
