The leader of the Cuban Revolution, Army General Ra\u00fal Castro Ruz, and the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel D\u00edaz-Canel Berm\u00fadez, led Saturday\u2019s ceremony commemorating the 65th anniversary of the establishment of the Directorate of Personal Security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the report broadcast on the Cuban Television Evening News, the ceremony highlighted the history of this force, created on September 6, 1961, whose members have assumed the responsibility of guaranteeing the security of the Revolution\u2019s top leaders for more than six decades. Army Corps General L\u00e1zaro Alberto \u00c1lvarez Casas, Minister of the Interior and member of the Political Bureau, read the congratulatory message sent by Ra\u00fal Castro, who conveyed his appreciation for the work carried out by the combatants of the Directorate since the early years of the revolutionary process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In his letter, the Army General paid tribute to the founders and martyrs of the institution and highlighted the contribution of its members to the protection of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz and the historical leadership of the Revolution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also commemorated the 32 combatants who died in the line of duty in Venezuela and affirmed that their example serves as a permanent guide for new generations of the force.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the ceremony, the head of the Directorate of Personal Security, Brigadier General Emir Mesa Corona, presented Ra\u00fal Castro with an award recognizing him as a \u201cFounding Chief\u201d of that structure, along with Fidel Castro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mesa Corona highlighted the influence of both leaders on the formation and development of Personal Security and recognized the work of the men and women who have been part of the organization since its inception.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The commemoration also recognized five founders of the institution: Lieutenant Colonel Luis Rivera Rivera, Colonel Nelson Camejo Mas, Colonel Nivaldo P\u00e9rez Guerra, Major Reinaldo Figueroa Peraza, and Lieutenant Colonel Orlando Arias \u00c1lvarez.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The celebration was attended by members of the Political Bureau, members of the Central Committee of the Party, heads of the Ministry of the Interior and the Revolutionary Armed Forces, as well as veterans of the Personal Security Directorate and relatives of those who died in the line of duty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The program included musical performances, d\u00e9cimas (traditional ten-line stanzas), and an audiovisual presentation on the history of the institution, in addition to a photographic exhibition dedicated to Fidel Castro and the veterans who comprised his protection team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Personal Security Directorate celebrates its 65th anniversary and reaffirms its commitment to continue its mission of protecting the country\u2019s top leadership and preserving the principles of the Revolution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
