Cuban Launches Havana International Fair Virtual Platform<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\nThe U.S. State Department imposed sanctions on four Cuban military companies and three senior executives, along with three companies and a research center involved in nickel extraction, mining services and innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rodr\u00edguez, Cuba\u2019s foreign minister, condemned the measures in a post on X, saying they were driven by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio as part of an effort to intensify economic pressure on Cuba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Secretary of State is once again targeting Cuban institutions and individuals as part of his policy of maximum economic pressure and collective punishment against the Cuban people,\u201d Rodr\u00edguez wrote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added that the administration of President Donald Trump \u201cwill fail in its attempt to bend us. We will never give up our sovereignty and independence, won nearly 70 years ago through the Revolution.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The new sanctions come amid what the Cuban government described as an escalating U.S. pressure campaign this year. Havana said the measures have included restrictions affecting energy supplies, sanctions against public and social institutions, and heightened bilateral tensions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Cuban authorities also reported that the economic damage attributed to the U.S. blockade exceeded $8 billion between March 2025 and February 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The latest measures add to the sanctions and other restrictions that Havana says have contributed to one of the region\u2019s most intense periods of geopolitical friction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
