Bruno Rodr\u00edguez Parrilla, Cuba\u2019s Minister of Foreign Affairs, denounced the combined effects of climate change and the United States\u2019 economic, commercial, and financial blockade while addressing the High-Level Meeting on Sea-Level Rise at the United Nations General Assembly in New York.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The foreign minister emphasized that the blockade hinders access to financing, technology, and resources, thereby exacerbating the impact of rising sea levels on coastal communities, biodiversity, and ecosystems, according to Cubaminrex, the Foreign Ministry\u2019s website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also noted that Cuba faces a natural threat alongside a deliberate policy of collective punishment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bruno Rodr\u00edguez advocated for solidarity, international cooperation, and climate justice, reiterating the right to development as a prerequisite for tackling environmental challenges, while declaring that Cuba\u2019s position is grounded in the defense of peace and sovereignty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Ibero-American Conference, the top Cuban diplomat expressed confidence that the 30th Summit in Madrid would reflect the Community\u2019s historic support for Cuba, amidst the intensification of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade\u2014including an energy blockade with severe consequences for the population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Cuba\u2019s foreign minister held bilateral meetings with the Vice President of Uganda and his counterparts from Belarus and Suriname, discussing diplomatic relations and multilateral issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He reported on the difficult situation on the island, marked by sanctions and threats of military aggression. He also held talks with Miguel \u00c1ngel Moratinos, High Representative for the UN Alliance of Civilizations, acknowledging his work in promoting understanding among peoples and reaffirming that Cuba will continue to champion international cooperation and respect for the United Nations Charter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Deputy Foreign Minister Anayansi Rodr\u00edguez Camejo participated in the Ministerial Meeting of the Global Alliance for the Two-State Solution, where Cuba reaffirmed its solidarity with Palestine and condemned the genocide committed by Israel with the support of the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rodr\u00edguez Camejo also attended the meeting of the Alliance of Small Island States, where she advocated for the Group\u2019s unity in climate negotiations and expressed gratitude for the support shown in the struggle against the blockade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the meeting of the UN Economic and Social Council\u2019s Advisory Group on Haiti, she reaffirmed Cuba\u2019s solidarity-based cooperation and called for respect for that Caribbean nation\u2019s sovereignty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
