On the occasion of the death today of Isabel Viscarra, activist of the solidarity movement with Cuba in Bolivia, the Cuban Institute for Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) described her as an “example of a fighter for peace and justice.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“With deep regret we have received the news of the physical departure of Mar\u00eda Isabel Viscarra Quezada (\u2026), revolutionary in every sense of the word,” Cuban ambassador Danilo S\u00e1nchez expressed in a text delivered to Nila Heredia, president of the Truth Commission, of which Viscarra was a regular member.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This team clarified the murders, forced disappearances, torture, arbitrary arrests and other human rights violations based on political and ideological motives, which occurred in Bolivia from November 1964 to October 1982.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Regarding the fighter who died at the age of 87, a victim of logical organic complications of her age, ICAP states that “she lived with the firm conviction that a better world is possible”, and recalled her love for Cuba and its Revolution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The note read before those present at Viscarra’s funeral ceremonies at her home, in a central area of \u200b\u200bLa Paz, is signed by ICAP first vice president Noem\u00ed Rabaza and expresses her deepest condolences to Viscarra\u2019s family, friends and colleagues in the struggle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
From Mexico, the Minister of the Bolivian Presidency, Mar\u00eda Nela Prada, sent a message of gratitude for the teachings of those who promoted critical anti-colonial, anti-racist, anti-capitalist, anti-imperialist and socialist thinking at the Caf\u00e9 Semilla Juvenil, which she founded and led for 36 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Solidarity Movement with Cuba in La Paz, meanwhile, published this Thursday on its website a note of condolence from Eric Vald\u00e9s, former political adviser of the Cuban embassy in Bolivia, who highlighted Viscarra’s ideas of solidarity with other peoples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Vald\u00e9s evoked her prominent role as founder and successful organizer of the Fidel 90 Years Committee, the \u201c50 Years of Che\u201d, her tireless efforts in the fight for the liberation of the five Cuban anti-terrorists who remained imprisoned for fifteen years in the United States for try to prevent terrorist actions against your country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
