{"id":388,"date":"2023-01-27T23:09:40","date_gmt":"2023-01-28T04:09:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.radiorebelde.cu\/english\/?p=388"},"modified":"2023-01-27T23:10:00","modified_gmt":"2023-01-28T04:10:00","slug":"raul-castro-and-diaz-canel-attend-traditional-cuban-march-of-torches","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.radiorebelde.cu\/english\/raul-castro-and-diaz-canel-attend-traditional-cuban-march-of-torches-27012023\/","title":{"rendered":"Ra\u00fal Castro and D\u00edaz-Canel attend traditional Cuban March of Torches"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The leader of the Cuban Revolution, Ra\u00fal Castro, and the President of the Republic, Miguel D\u00edaz-Canel participated this Friday in the traditional march of the Torches in homage to National Hero Jos\u00e9 Mart\u00ed, on the 170th anniversary of his birth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The leaders accompanied the students and the people of Havana on the walk from the University of Havana to the Mart\u00ed Forge under the slogan &#8220;Your torch, my strength&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before the pilgrimage, the president of the University Student Federation (FEU), Emilio Morejon, said that young people carry &#8220;the sap of the apostle (Marti) and other men and women of the Revolution, who have defended this work of dignity and creation, which we come to defend here today and which we will always defend&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now it is our turn, he pointed out, to carry the fire of our torches with the same boldness of those who taught us to be Martians, anti-imperialists, and that defending the Revolution comes first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He emphasized the commitment of the Cuban youth to the historical leader, Fidel Castro, Mart\u00ed, and the active role that the youth will have in the next national elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also participating in the march were the head of the National Assembly of People&#8217;s Power, Esteban Lazo, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodr\u00edguez, and Commanders Ramiro Vald\u00e9s and Jos\u00e9 Ram\u00f3n Machado.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The parade is also a tribute to Fidel Castro, to the &#8220;pioneer generation&#8221;
