The Canch\u00e1nchara Festival: Tradition and Culture will be held from December 13 to 15 in the city of Trinidad, located in the Cuban central province of Sancti Sp\u00edritus and designated a World Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The festival is named after the first truly Cuban cocktail, created by the mambises during the wars of independence from Spanish colonialism, to alleviate food shortages and help them survive in harsh weather conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event features crafts, dance performances, food, and the awarding of the Excelencias Prize to outstanding individuals in the fields of art and society, both in Cuba and abroad. Additionally, a new contest, Mi Canto a la Canch\u00e1nchara, will be held.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This edition will mark the 40th anniversary of the Canch\u00e1nchara Tavern, one of the oldest buildings in Trinidad, which combines architectural elements from the 15th, 19th, and 20th centuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Festival will also pay tribute to the Valle de los Ingenios, which was also designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is organized by the Company of Musical Recordings and Editions, the Ministry of Tourism of Cuba, the Office of the Curator of the City and the Valle de los Ingenios, in collaboration with the local authorities, the Trinidadian musician Jos\u00e9 L\u00f3pez Santander, and the Extra-hotel Company Palmares SA in Trinidad.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
