{"id":7609,"date":"2025-03-03T22:57:44","date_gmt":"2025-03-04T02:57:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.radiorebelde.cu\/english\/?p=7609"},"modified":"2025-03-03T22:57:46","modified_gmt":"2025-03-04T02:57:46","slug":"cuban-deputy-foreign-minister-denounces-aggressive-u-s-government-policy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.radiorebelde.cu\/english\/cuban-deputy-foreign-minister-denounces-aggressive-u-s-government-policy-03032025\/","title":{"rendered":"Cuban deputy foreign minister denounces aggressive U.S. government policy"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Carlos Fern\u00e1ndez de Coss\u00edo says&nbsp;that the declared policy of the foreign policy team of the current United States Government is aggressive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey themselves have said that their purpose is to continue putting economic pressure on Cuba, to continue creating difficulties for the Cuban economy and thus provoke greater hardships, greater problems for the well-being of Cubans, for the living conditions in the country,\u201d warned the deputy foreign minister in an interview with Prensa Latina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey themselves have declared it and have threatened to adopt additional measures, which some they say are unprecedented,\u201d added the diplomat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt remains to be seen exactly what they are going to do, but one should not be surprised that they have the will and the ability to continue punishing the Cuban population as a whole on the basis of coercive economic measures, aimed at closing off Cuba&#8217;s sources of financing, access to markets, access to technology,\u201d he argued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is something &#8211; he warned &#8211; that naturally violates international law, violates the UN Charter, and is aggressive acts that the United Nations system rightly condemns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He explained that \u201cgiven the statements made by the United States foreign policy apparatus with respect to Cuba, it is difficult to think that there could be an improvement in the short term,\u201d but he recalled that \u201cCuba has gone through such periods in the past and that possibility cannot be ruled out.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, \u201cthere would have to be a change of attitude on the part of the United States Government,\u201d he said, insisting that \u201con the part of Cuba, we have been consistent throughout the history of the Revolution.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The deputy minister of foreign affairs reiterated that \u201cwe are willing to maintain a respectful relationship with the United States, one that is constructive and beneficial for both countries.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNaturally,\u201d he emphasized, \u201calways respecting the sovereign rights of each party and we firmly defend the sovereign rights of Cuba.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are sure, concluded the deputy&nbsp;minister, that if such a relationship were to be built, it would be beneficial for both countries and that the differences we have could be dealt with in a respectful manner, in a civilized manner and through dialogue, as Cuba does with all countries in the world, with the United States being the exception.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As soon as he returned to the White House on January 20, President Donald Trump returned Cuba to the unilateral list of state sponsors of terrorism and reversed other measures that his Democratic predecessor Joe Biden had adopted at the end of his term.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Carlos Fern&aacute;ndez de Coss&iacute;o says&nbsp;that the declared policy of the foreign policy team of the current United States Government is aggressive. &ldquo;They themselves have said that&hellip;
