Iran has strongly condemned U.S. President Donald Trump’s latest threats against the country, describing them as a flagrant violation of international law and principles of the UN Charter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Iran’s permanent ambassador made the remarks in a letter sent to the UN chief and the president of the Security Council on Monday. Amir Saeid Iravani said that since taking office, Trump has disregarded and violated all international norms by threatening independent nations with the use of force.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Saturday, Trump said that Iran would be bombed if it did not make a deal with the United States. \u201cIf they don\u2019t make a deal, there will be bombing,\u201d he said in an interview with NBC News. He also threatened to punish Iran with what he called \u201csecondary tariffs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSuch reckless and belligerent statements constitute a flagrant violation of international law and the core principles of the United Nations Charter, particularly Article 2(4), which explicitly prohibits the threat or use of force against any state\u2019s territorial integrity or political independence,\u201d Iravani said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe President of the United States, since taking office in January 2025, has disregarded and violated all international norms and principles upon which the United Nations was founded. He consistently threatens independent nations with the use of force, a pattern that sets a dangerous precedent in international relations,\u201d Iravani said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He urged the Security Council to unequivocally condemn Trump’s threats as violations of international law and the UN Charter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt is deeply regrettable and concerning that the United States, a permanent member of the UN Security Council, blatantly ignores its obligations under the UN Charter and wields military power as its primary tool of coercion to advance its political and geopolitical objectives,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He warned that the Council\u2019s failure to act risks catastrophic consequences not only for the region but also for international peace and security. \u201cIn light of these grave violations and their potential consequences, the Islamic Republic of Iran urges the UN Security Council to fulfill its responsibility under the UN Charter to maintain international peace and security,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Iravani reiterated Iran’s firm commitment to regional peace, stability, and security, stressing that Tehran has no interest in conflict or escalation. He warned that Iran would respond swiftly and decisively to any act of aggression or attack by the US or its proxy, the Israeli regime, against its sovereignty, territorial integrity, or national interests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Iravani noted that Washington would be fully responsible for the grave consequences of any hostile action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On March 7, Trump announced he had written to Iran to call for nuclear negotiations and threaten military action. The letter was delivered to Tehran on March 12th by UAE presidential adviser Anwar Gargash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said on March 21 that U.S. threats \u201cwill get them nowhere\u201d and warned of reciprocal measures \u201cif they do anything malign\u201d against Iran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ayatollah Khamenei also dismissed Trump\u2019s outreach for talks, which he said was an attempt to deceive global public opinion by portraying the United States as willing to negotiate while framing Iran as unwilling to engage.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
