In an e-mail to campus leaders on Thursday, Brown University provost, Frank Doyle, said he was aware of \u201ctroubling rumours emerging about federal action on Brown research grants\u201d but added he had \u201cno information to substantiate any of these rumours.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Trump administration\u2019s action, if confirmed, will be the latest measures taken against an academic institution over the issue of anti-Semitism, after Columbia University had $400 million in federal funding slashed last month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Princeton University also said earlier this week that the White House has frozen several dozen research grants to the school, while the Trump administration is reportedly reviewing $9 billion in federal contracts and grants awarded to Harvard University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Trump has threatened to slash federal funding for dozens of universities over allegations they have allowed anti-Semitism to proliferate on campus since Israel\u2019s war on Gaza began in October 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
