The Orientales team was crowned champion of the Superior Women’s Basketball League after beating its similar team Occidentales in two games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The eastern team had beaten their rivals in the first match of the dispute for the title, held at the Ramon Fonts multipurpose hall in Havana, with a score of 63-52.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Now at the Alejandro Urgell\u00e9s hall in Santiago de Cuba, they completed the sweep with a 74-59 superiority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The home team secured the first quarter with a score of 25-11, followed by scores of 20-12 and 21-17, which left the western team with a difference of more than 20 points to overcome in the last period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The losers were erratic from the paint, although they shot more times to the hoop, the 30% of effectiveness against the 64% of the Easterners condemned them to “row” against the tide, and it was useless that they prevailed in the last period 19-8.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Cheila Molina scored 21 points and her teammate Yaiset Fraguela 19, however, only they held all the offensive weight of the western team but that was not enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The local team distributed its attack much better, so much so that three women surpassed double digits in that aspect: Rachel Contreras (13), Arianne Lisset Mena (10), and Taim\u00ed Casaco (10).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Others even came close: Mar\u00eda Carla Revelo (9), Keila Sagarra (9), and Dislaine Vicente (8).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
