Cuban President Miguel D\u00edaz-Canel remembered today, on the Day of the Martyrs of the Cuban Revolution, all those who gave their lives in the struggle to overthrow the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista (1952-1959).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the social network X, the head of state recalled the assassination of revolutionaries Frank Pa\u00eds and Ra\u00fal Pujol on this date in 1957, for which July 30 was declared a day of commemoration.
We remember those who gave their noble lives inspired by the dream of an emancipated Cuba, the president wrote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In his messages, D\u00edaz-Canel emphasized that in young people like Frank Pa\u00eds and Ra\u00fal Pujol, the sons of this nation have role models of virtue, and the pride of knowing they come from Cubans like themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Frank Pa\u00eds Garc\u00eda, chief of action and sabotage for the 26th of July Movement, and the revolutionary Ra\u00fal Pujol Arencibia, were machine-gunned by the repressive forces of the Batista dictatorship on July 30, 1957, in the place known as the Alley of the Wall, in Santiago de Cuba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Upon learning of the incident, Fidel Castro declared: “How barbaric! They cowardly hunted him down in the street, taking advantage of the advantages they enjoyed to pursue an underground fighter.
