Venezuelan President Nicol\u00e1s Maduro addressed the role of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in historical interventions in Latin America and the media war waged against its leaders this Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cFirst, smear Ch\u00e1vez; then, smear Maduro; and with that campaign, justify anything against our country,\u201d the head of state emphasized during a visit to the \u201cGeneral Rafael Urdaneta\u201d Commune, located in Sector 3 of the Rafael Urdaneta Urbanization (La Segundera), in Cagua, Aragua state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Venezuelan leader referred to the invasions and overthrows of presidents of the Dominican Republic, Brazil, Chile, and Nicaragua, orchestrated by the US government through economic, psychological, and political warfare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He mentioned actions carried out by the CIA in Latin American countries, stating, \u201cdictatorship, 20 years, thousands disappeared, carried out by the CIA.\u201d He added that, 50 years later, the Barack Obama administration \u201capologized to the people of Brazil because they had made a mistake; Jo\u00e3o Aguilar was a great democrat.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Regarding Chile, he recalled that in \u201c1973 the people of Chile elected a great president, one of the greatest leaders in Latin America, Salvador Allende, and they applied the same playbook to him, the same one they applied to us in 2000, 2001, 2004, 2008\u2026\u201d He continued, explaining that the people have defeated the actions of the CIA: \u201cThey have defeated them with the conscience and courage of the Bolivarian people,\u201d he emphasized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also explained, regarding Chile, that on September 11, 1973, he was bombed, harassed, and assassinated, and detailed that \u201cthen came an atrocious dictatorship, with more than five thousand disappeared, with concentration camps.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Regarding Nicaragua, he indicated that the war against the Sandinista revolution was financed with drugs from Pablo Escobar Gaviria, and affirmed that \u201cthey financed the guerrilla movement against the Sandinista revolution.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
President Maduro asserted: \u201cThey have not allowed our America to be itself,\u201d but added that \u201cAmerica will find its way, and at the forefront will be Venezuela, ALBA, and the Bolivarian, Mart\u00ed-inspired, Moraz\u00e1n-inspired revolution for all time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
