Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodr\u00edguez responded today from this capital to Chilean President Gabriel Boric, who made statements against the island and the historical leadership of the Revolution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the social network X, Rodr\u00edguez said that in a scenario where Latin America and the Caribbean are being attacked and threatened by the United States, \u201csome leaders in the region prefer to criticize #Cuba,\u201d statements that the press has identified with Boric\u2019s remarks on a CNN Chile program on January 15 and 16.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Cuban Foreign Minister described the Chilean president\u2019s stance as \u201cpolitical opportunism,\u201d which \u201cis neither an act of coherence nor courage.\u201d Later in the same post, he stated that Boric \u201csquandered his time. His mistakes and inconsistencies handed his country over to the neo-fascist far right.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Cuban foreign minister added that \u201cperhaps unwittingly,\u201d Boric serves the imperialist desires to \u201cdivide and impose its dominion over our people.\u201d He does so while relegating his own history, the history of his martyrs, and his people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the aforementioned television program, the Chilean head of state, in his ill-advised remarks, described Cuba as a dictatorship and the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro, as a dictator, according to the Cuban News Agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
