\u201cWe are reading many messages about this. It is worrying information. We know that our Cuban comrades are determined to defend their interests, to defend their independence,\u201d the Kremlin spokesman told the press.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Peskov\u2019s statements are based on a publication in the Politico newspaper about Washington\u2019s plans to block the Cuban government\u2019s access to hydrocarbons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In that regard, the head of the Russian presidential press service was emphatic in stating that \u201cwe also highly value our special bilateral relations with Cuba.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The US media reported last Friday, citing government sources, that President Donald Trump\u2019s administration is preparing a total embargo on oil imports from Cuba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The day before, Cuba\u2019s Deputy Foreign Minister, Carlos Fern\u00e1ndez de Coss\u00edo, described this intention as a brutal assault against a peaceful nation that poses no threat whatsoever to the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In that regard, the diplomat condemned these measures as irrefutable proof that the economic hardships faced by the Cuban people are primarily caused and orchestrated from Washington.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Cuban deputy minister recalled that figures like Marco Rubio and John Bolton, in 2019, urged Trump to order a similar blockade, an action that was blocked at the time by national security agencies, which considered such a course of unjustifiable confrontation irresponsible and dangerous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The new rhetoric aimed at strangling Cuba, championed by the White House occupant and his elite, follows a similar policy applied in Venezuela, where on January 3rd, US forces carried out a large-scale military attack and kidnapped President Nicol\u00e1s Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Following these events, numerous nations worldwide, including Russia, condemned the actions of the United States in the Latin American region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In this regard, Moscow repudiated the attack and stated that Caracas, like any other territory, must have the right to decide its own destiny without any foreign interference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
