The Havana-based institution Casa de las Am\u00e9ricas invites the public to participate in a series of lectures that will explore a theme related to cultural colonization, a phenomenon linked to fascism, each month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The program is titled \u201cPaths to Decolonization: Thought, Art, and Cultural Action from Casa de las Am\u00e9ricas,\u201d and the next lecture, led by Cuban essayist and researcher Jorge Fornet, will be held on Tuesday, March 3rd at 10:00 a.m. local time in the institution\u2019s Manuel Galich Room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The expert, who is also the director of the institution\u2019s Center for Literary Research, will lead the discussion on \u201cDecolonization Under Debate: Casa de las Am\u00e9ricas as a Hub for Reflections and Proposals.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The lecture series began yesterday with a talk by the intellectual and president of the institution, Abel Prieto, and will continue until the end of this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
His lecture, \u201cReasons and Objectives of a National Program to Confront Cultural Colonization,\u201d was crucial in understanding that the world is facing an ancient phenomenon that cripples the inherent intellectual capacity of human beings, our culture, and our values.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In his presentation, Prieto warned about the consequences of being colonized and reflected on the role of social media in this, the battle for history, and the profound cultural and ethical crisis facing humanity, among other topics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
