This aggression, however, has generated a response of dignity, patriotism, anti-imperialism, and unity in Caribbean society.

During an interview with teleSUR, Prieto expressed his gratitude for international solidarity and the support of the governments backing Cuba: “The position of China, Russia, and other countries that have shown themselves to be very decisive in their support of Cuba at this time is important.”

The president of Casa de las Américas affirmed that, despite the pressure, the Cuban people “are determined to move forward with their project, defending their sovereignty, defending their social model… and not allowing themselves to be pressured by the United States government.”

Washington seeks to suffocate the Cuban people

Prieto denounced that Washington’s policy is not aimed at the government leadership, but directly at the population: “From Eisenhower to Trump, the policy has always been the same: to exert pressure in order to suffocate this people, to force this people to submit, to divide this people, to accuse their government. The famous regime change is what Trump and Marco Rubio and that corrupt and pedophilic elite want.” What they want is regime change through the suffering they inflict on the Cuban people.

The Cuban intellectual emphasized that the true victim of these actions is “the entire population, whom they are subjecting to suffocating pressure.”

Prieto recalled: “This is a people accustomed to difficult conditions… they lived through the October Crisis, the Bay of Pigs invasion, the Torricelli Act, the Helms-Burton Act, and the collapse of socialism in Europe. In other words, this is a people who have lived through very harsh, very difficult, very painful situations.” However, in the current scenario, the response is resounding: “They are responding with their characteristic dignity.”

Dialogue without preconditions

The president of Casa de las Américas also referred to the massive popular demonstrations that send a clear message to Washington: “This people put on an extraordinary demonstration… there were massive demonstrations that were clear messages to the United States government.” These mobilizations, like the March of the Torch, are a tangible demonstration of the island’s unwavering will.

Abel Prieto emphasized Cuba’s willingness to engage in dialogue, provided it is based on mutual respect. He reiterated the position of President Miguel Díaz-Canel and the Revolution: “We are willing to engage in dialogue as equals, without preconditions, and without putting principles on the negotiating table.” This position reflects the sovereignty of the Caribbean nation.

However, Cuba views any attempt at dialogue by the Trump administration with “great suspicion.” Prieto explained that the United States government has a strategy of cornering the Cuban people through blackmail and pressure aimed at division. “They will not succeed,” the intellectual emphasized.

Lies as a weapon of the U.S.

Prieto highlighted the historical use of disinformation by the United States: “Lies have been one of the main weapons of our enemies.” Now they accuse us of sponsoring terrorists, of having contact with terrorist groups. That’s false. Of having military bases here from other countries. All of that is false. One lie after another, one lie after another all the time: what Goebbels said, repeat a lie and you’ll turn it into the truth. These people think just like Goebbels, they have the same logic, the lie constantly used against their victims.”

The president of Casa de las Américas emphasized Cuba’s status as a victim of violence: “Cuba has been a victim of terrorism. The list of victims of state terrorism promoted by the United States is very long. Many people who have used biological warfare, the most atrocious things, have tested against us. And now they come to accuse us of sponsoring terrorism, to include us on that truly infamous list of the state that sponsors terrorism.”

Psychological Warfare

Prieto warned about the advance in the digital sphere: “All of this is part of the everyday weaponry used through social media. Through this tide, this offensive, social media is promoting annexationist sentiment among Cubans. All of this is ridiculous.” These campaigns include political memes that “portray Trump as a savior leader, a kind of Messiah who is going to come and save us.”

The intellectual denounced this offensive as part of a cognitive, symbolic, and psychological war against the Cuban government. However, he dismissed the possibility that they will succeed in their objective of subduing the Cuban people.

Abel Prieto emphasized that the people’s reaction demonstrates that “the attack has united the Cuban people even more,” who have reacted “with more patriotism, with more dignity, with more fighting spirit.”

Prieto concluded with a message of unity and resolve, invoking Fidel Castro: “to have a sense of the historical moment.” He emphasized that the people have demonstrated their strength and stressed the importance of the new generations, adding that the people must deliver “a strong message of unity, dignity, love, and commitment to sovereignty, in the face of hatred and lies.”

IMAGE CREDIT: Abel Prieto denounced that Washington’s policy is not aimed at the government leadership, but directly at the population: “From Eisenhower to Trump, the policy has always been the same: to exert pressure in order to suffocate this people.” Photo: teleSUR

[ SOURCE: cubainformacion.tv / teleSUR ]

The president of Casa de las Américas, Abel Prieto, denounced this Monday that Washington is seeking “regime change” through the suffering of the Cuban people, following the executive order signed…

[1

42
post-9997","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-cuba
"0":null,"1":"","2":"","3":"","4":"","5":"","6":"","7":"","8":"
["GET
