Cuba outlines the economic impact of U.S. blockade

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez on Thursday outlined the economic impact of the blockade, exceeding seven billion dollars, during the period from March 2024 to February 2025.

On social media, he described the consequences of the blockade as destructive to the Cuban economy.

“The experience accumulated with the blockade over 67 years, plus the nature of Cuba’s political, economic, and social system, allows us to confront the pronounced strengthening of US aggression with significant limitations, but in an organized manner, with the capacity to guide the allocation of resources based on priorities, to protect the most vulnerable population, and to absorb the onslaught with the greatest possible equity and justice.”

Cuba’s top diplomat also stated that, despite the undeniably severe economic blow, the national response and the creative efforts of the population have exceeded the expectations of imperialists and anti-Cuban politicians, who are “rushing to predict the end of the Revolution and the collapse of the country.”
