Cuba’s Young Communists Union Renews its National Bureau

The National Committee of the Union of Young Communists (UJC), the organization that brings together a large part of the new generation of Cubans, at the proposal of its National Bureau and through a consultation process, removed Yanet Hernández Aguilera from its membership in that body as part of a natural renewal process. Hernández Aguilera had been responsible for the areas of Education, Health, and Sports.

Meyvis Estévez Echeverría, First Secretary, specified on her Facebook profile that Elisbel Durán Borroto, until now First Secretary of the Provincial Committee in Holguín, a position he had held since 2024, was promoted to assume this responsibility.

Durán Borroto, a graduate in Primary Education and 35 years old, held positions in the municipal committees of Majagua, Banes, and Holguín, before reaching the provincial leadership.

Her experience enabled her to manage the organization’s internal processes and organizational functioning, achieving positive results in key performance indicators.

As part of her professional development, she completed a diploma program in Political Leadership of Society in 2021.

Hernández Aguilera was promoted to a position within the Communist Party of Cuba after more than 13 years of dedication to developing young people in various roles.

The organization extended its congratulations and best wishes to both individuals in their new responsibilities.
